Music Scholars’ Gala Concert
The annual Royal Over-Seas League Music Scholars’ Gala Concert was a stunning occasion bristling with musical talent in a truly eclectic programme. The choice of music was ambitious, including some of the big heavyweight chamber music works (Dvorak Piano Quintet, Mozart Clarinet Quintet), but the performers were in no way intimidated by this challenge: on the contrary, they rose splendidly to the demands placed upon them, both technically and musically, to produce a truly outstanding event. A packed Princess Alexandra Hall at the Royal Over-Seas League sensed the magic, with rapturous applause greeting the performers following each splendid item.
Over £400 was raised for the nominated charity Future Talent, capping a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable evening of music making, once again demonstrating that Music at Marlborough is in extremely good heart, spearheaded by a cohort of very fine Music Scholars.
