Community Partnerships: Swindon Academy

Links with Swindon Academy continue to be strengthened, and this term we have added midweek residential visits to the ever-growing list of partnership activities.

United Learning funding enables one of our teachers (Nic Allott) to work two days each week at Swindon Academy, and this underpins the healthy and burgeoning links.

Many Academy pupils have benefited from intense academic and boarding experiences during one or two-day residential visits.  We have entertained staff and pupils, for diverse experiences: maths mentoring with our senior pupils, Japanese language lessons, primary school cultural visits, evening lectures, week-long teacher exchanges, where good teaching practice is shared and Latin taster lessons.

Our assistance with the Grammar Stream initiative at Swindon Academy continues, and will lead to further and significant collaboration.  As ever, the involvement of our pupils in the Reading Buddies Outreach Activity exposes our pupils to a world far removed from their own.

The photographs illustrate aspects of our important work with Swindon Academy, which continues to expand for the mutual benefit of staff and pupils at both schools.
