Marlborough College Summer School has won Silver in the Artistic, Cultural and Learning Experience category after entering the annual South West Tourism Awards for the first time.

On Thursday 4th February 2016 in the stunning location of the Nave of Exeter Cathedral, 95 different awards were announced following a rigorous judging process in which a record 490 entries were considered. The Summer School faced tough competition from fellow finalist, Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage HQ, and were proud to beat Rick Stein’s Padstow Seafood School and Le Vignoble in Plymouth to the Silver Award.

After conducting a mystery shopper report during the 2015 event, the judges praised the Summer School for being a professional and well run organisation in an amazing setting. Furthermore, they said: “The friendliness and welcome was excellent, with a buzzing atmosphere throughout.”

Summer School Director, John Blake commented: “This is an award that is – very much – shared by everyone who contributes to Summer School.

“Summer School is an incredible team effort and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone very much for making the event so special.”
