Junior Art Scholarship Day

Art scholarship candidates from 17 Prep Schools visited Marlborough College on Thursday 28th February.

For their scholarship task these 22 Year 8 pupils drew on A1 sized paper, aspects of the interior inside the dining room, drawing room or hallway in the Master’s Lodge – no mean feat! And, while doing so, each were asked to leave their drawing and, one by one, discuss their portfolio with myself and our Art-in-Residence, Siobhan Humston.

When the timetable allowed it, current Art Scholars visited the Lodge, chatted with the candidates and helped in with the interviews. The overall standard of work was extremely accomplished and before we knew it, the 4pm departure appeared. Between 9am and the late afternoon, a suite of glorious, sustained and beautiful, high-quality observational drawings came to fruition.

Candidates awarded an Art Scholarship from this year’s very strong field, will be announced soon.
