Review: Miranda Aldhouse-Green

Miranda Aldhouse-Green, Professor Emerita of Archaeology at the University of Cardiff, visited the College on Wednesday 27th February.

She gave a fascinating talk to Latin GCSE pupils about Druids and Boudica’s rebellion, which they are studying for their set texts. She put the accounts of Caesar and Tacitus into the context of Roman imperial expansion, highlighting the sympathy shown by Tacitus to the defeated Britons, and used archaeological evidence to show the importance of Druids in Celtic society, with reference to the sacrifice of Lindow Man.
