Art Foundation & Degree Course Successes
One of the highlights during our busy Lent term is celebrating the many achievements by our Upper Sixth Art pupils, whose hard work has been rewarded by gaining commendable Art degree and Foundation course offers.
In the Art School, our pupils are provided with mock interviews, personal statement and portfolio preparation tutorials. Workshops concentrating on Life Class, expressive drawing and painting techniques are also offered. It is a pleasure to witness the increasing confidence of our young artists, who are encouraged to discuss the breadth of their visual experiments, artist references, sustained drawing, painting, printmaking, photographic and even film based resolutions, submitted within their portfolios.
Increasingly, our pupils are choosing a broader number of creative degree courses, these include; Film, Photography and Architecture specialisms. Over the past three years, we have also recognised an increased request by Art courses to require digital portfolio applications from candidates, prior to interview. Though time consuming for all, this process does necessitate the valuable need to be selective. This includes providing concise written descriptions of works, alongside dexterous photographic recording of each pupils’ art.
Archie Koe (BH U6) and Millie Burdett (MM U6) impressed by gaining various offers to study for a BA in Architecture. Alfie Fisher (TU U6), Marlowe Turner (TU U6) and Caspar Dunhill (C3 U6) are due to choose from various Film and Photography degree course offers. Freya Jones (EL U6) Chloe Knight (CO U6) Lara Prideaux (IH U6), Trixie Thurner (PR U6), Lottie Bagshaw (NC U6) and Diddy Stewart (EL U6) have all achieved highly impressive places at prestigious Art Foundation courses.
Many congratulations to our artists and for their continued creative successes!
