Chapel Choir at Windsor

The Chapel Choir travelled to Windsor on Wednesday 8th May to sing a service of Choral Evensong in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. In such a stunning setting, full of history and elegance and adorned with beautifully woven standards, the Choir truly rose to the occasion.

As the choir processed in there was a palpable anticipation of the music to come, which included Stanford’s Evening Canticles in C. The service concluded as the choir brought a piece of Marlborough College with them in the form of Wood’s anthem, Expectans Expectavi which resounded around the stone walls with the words of Charles Hamilton Sorley (C1 1908-15), one of our very own Old Marlburians.

A delightful service in a most incredible setting – what an honour to sing in such a place.
