Athletes compete for Mayor’s Cup
Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the Mayor’s Cup on Tuesday 4th June, competed between Marlborough College and St John’s.
The long-running competition has taken place since the 1960s, originally between the Grammar School and the College. The Mayor’s Cup tests pupils’ athletic endeavours in a full range of modern athletics disciplines on the track and in the field. In its current format, pupils from the Shell and Remove compete against one another, with the Shell competition determining the actual winner of the cup.
The College retained the trophy for the fourth consecutive year, this following a period of similar dominance from St. John’s. Athletes Star Horlock (DA Sh) and Archie Loweth (BH Sh) are pictured with Councillor Mervyn Hall, the Mayor of Marlborough.
