Review: Beginners and Intermediate Concert
During the Lent term we decided to pilot a new initiative entitled ‘Beginners and Intermediate Concert’. We had no idea what the response or uptake might be, but suffice to say that such was the interest, we had to spread the concert over two evening performances! No surprise, then, that this will now become a permanent fixture in the musical calendar and in so doing help to support a policy of truly inclusive music making.
The majority of the performers are less experienced ‘on stage’ – all the more impressive, then, that the standard was so high and the programme so varied, revealing bags of hidden talent to be nurtured going forward. The audience was also suitably enthusiastic and attentive, as well as being sizeable in number too, and it was pleasing to see so many pupils supporting each other in performance.
Congratulations to all performers: Emily Ambrose (MO Re), Joe Baldock (CO Sh), Ben Brand (PR Sh), Ben Burdett (B1 Re), Bessie Creasey (IH Sh), Georgie Cresswell (MO Sh), Sophie Dunlop (MO Re), Bella Evans (MO Sh), Charlotte Greenham (MM Sh), Sebastian Hebblethwaite (LI Sh), Ali Horne (MO Sh), Ewan Hunter (C3 Re), Hannah Keighley (DA Sh), Emma Kirkwood (MM Re), Hermione Longfield (NC Sh), Kitty Marvin (NC Sh), Poppy McGhee (NC Sh), William Moore (C3 Sh), Phoebe Munn (DA Re), Laura Newton (DA Sh), Chicha Nimitpornsuko (NC Sh), Tilly Norman (MM Re), Freddie Palmer (SU Sh), Alexa Scott (MM Sh), Willow Smiley (MO Re), Olivia Spearpoint (IH Re) and Emily Tubbs (MM Re) on a fabulous spectacle and a hugely enjoyable celebration of musical gifts.
