Marlborough in a Hundred Objects

In our latest edition of Marlborough in a Hundred Objects, we focus on objects found on and around our site which tell stories from the hundred years before the College started in 1843.

In those days, the mansion house that is now C1 House was known as the Castle Inn and was one of the most important hostelries in the country, boasting guests as prestigious as the Duke of Wellington. As well as Castle Inn-related objects in this selection, there is a reminder of another educational venture within the grounds of the College and architectural relics of a grim aspect of life in the town.

We are now up to 30 evocative and intriguing objects in our quest to publish 100, and you can read all the stories at Marlborough in a Hundred Objects.
