To commence our annual Acts of Remembrance, 130 pupils from Mill Mead and C3 were joined by house staff and their families for a Poppy Run on Sunday 7th November to raise funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. An amazing £3,250 has been raised to date.
All participants gathered on Hamersley with a mixture of excitement and trepidation as they embarked on the 5km route that took them upfield towards the Wedgwood stone and around the outskirts of the College campus. Joined this year by the College’s CCF Cadets, perseverance and fighting spirit were, as always, the mark of this annual House Remembrance event. With the sun shining and the autumn colours in full bloom, runners of all ages were able to take in the fantastic scenery and reflect on the sacrifices made in years gone by to secure and protect our freedoms.
Spirits were lifted as competitors drew close to the finishing line where the aromas of Ms Gibbs’ BBQ encouraged that final sprint for the line! This was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion for all, and a special mention to the members of staff who gave up their Sunday morning to marshal.
Grateful thanks to all of the C3/Mill Mead community for your generous support for this fantastic cause. Donations are still welcome on our JustGiving page.
