Museum of the Moon in Chapel

The Moon in Chapel

Thursday 4th November 2021

The middle of the Michaelmas Term has been marked with the College and local community coming together to enjoy the Museum of the Moon – a touring installation artwork currently on show in Chapel.

Measuring seven metres in diameter, the Moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface and was designed by UK artist Luke Jerram.

The Moon arrived in Chapel as a centrepiece of the Marlborough Dark Skies Festival – a collaboration between Marlborough Town Council, North Wessex Downs AONB and the College, combining art and science in a celebration of our beautiful dark skies in the North Wessex Downs.

The second week of half-term saw over 2,000 local people view the Moon in Chapel, with this first week of term seeing over 200 local primary school children visit as part of the College’s continued outreach work.

All College pupils have also had the chance to view the impressive artwork, whilst parents have an opportunity to visit this Saturday 6th November.
