24-Hour Row for Cancer Research

24-Hour Charity Row

Wednesday 8th December 2021

We are enormously proud of the 15 Lower Sixth pupils, ably supported by a number of members of Common Room, who successfully took part in a 24-hour rowing challenge in the College gym.

Non-stop, over Saturday and Sunday, their combined efforts totalled a brilliant 466 kilometres – longer than the Thames or the River Severn. They were fundraising for Cancer Research UK and have raised a fantastic £5,785 thus far.

The initiative was started by Hannah K who said on behalf of the group: ‘Cancer has affected so many of our family and friends, from parents to grandparents and aunts and uncles to peers at school. By raising funds, we hope to help all those who have struggled and all the families of those who lost the fight, as well as preventing many more people from suffering from this terrible disease.’

Take a bow: Hannah K, Saffron R, Sophie H, Ned W, Rory C, Tatiana Y, Ryan C, Sam P, Charlotte G, Helvetica H-T, Sam B, Jack H-H, Amelia S, Jack M, Zac C, Miss Marks, Mrs Hodgson, Mr Playfair, Mr Dennis, Mr Hamilton, Mrs Sandall, Mr Keighley, Mr Lane, Mrs Marvin, Mrs Adderley, Mr Scragg and Mr Nightingale.

Grateful thanks also go to Mr Finlay, Mrs Keighley and Mr Nicholas for their help on the ground.
