On Sunday 5th December 2021 the B1 boys completed a team triathlon in support of Young Minds.
Young Minds is a UK-based charity that endeavours to make sure that all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what. Whether they need a reassuring conversation, specialist mental health support or simply the reassurance that they are not alone in how they are feeling, Young Minds does a fantastic job.
This charitable initiative was organised by Upper Sixth pupils Sameer M and Will S, B1 Heads of Charity, in the hope of raising £3,000 and the House is promisingly poised at halfway to that target. Splitting the boys into teams of four, across the five year groups, Will and Sameer asked participants to collectively cover a swim distance of 1.2km, cycle 20km on a Wattbike and to run 6km – supporting each other through their respective strengths and weaknesses.
The boys were fantastic in their efforts in the pool, in the gym and around the 1.5km course of the College grounds. Well done to Ben B (U6) and his team; Tom B (L6), Will D (Hu) and George P (Re), who recorded the fastest team finishing time of 1:45:52. Well done also to Sam E (U6) who completed the entire event solo in an impressive time of 1:44:16. The competitors all wore bright yellow T-shirts imprinted with the Young Minds logo and the message ‘You Are Not Alone’.
Sameer and Will would like to offer their thanks to those teachers who supported and marshalled the event, and to parents and other family members who have supported the fundraising efforts thus far.
