We are enormously proud of Sophie H (L6) and her Great Britain team-mates, who won the gold medal in their event at the International Shooting Sports Federation Junior World Cup, held in Suhl, Germany last week.
The Junior Women’s Olympic Skeet team event was contested by some of the top junior teams from around the world – Slovakia, India, Germany, Italy, United States and Great Britain.
Sophie and her team-mates dug deep to post an impressive 195 in qualification – just beating India by 1 target for a place in the gold medal match.
The bronze medal match was contested first, with India shooting brilliantly to lift the bronze from Germany. Then the all-important gold medal match commenced.
The Great Britain team showed real focus and determination, moving quickly to an unassailable position. After 4 stands of pairs, the match was decided – the Great Britain team won gold with a massive 7-1 win over Slovakia.
This is the first time that the Great Britain Women’s team have won a gold medal in this event and we are thrilled for them all.
