Marlborough College’s History Department returned to the Chalke Valley History Festival for the first time since 2019: it was great to be back at such a well-organised and enriching event.
28 pupils and five staff enjoyed an array of talks by university academics, ranging from the Cold War to Love in the Tudor Court to the American Civil War, put on as part of the Festival for Schools. There were also the normal historical and cultural stalls on offer, and pupils had access to re-enactments, talks on falconry, replica field artillery pieces, and much more.
There was even OM representation in the form of Alex Dunlop (MO 2014-19) who was spotted with a Festival staff t-shirt on: a good work opportunity for future OMs, too!
Thanks to Christopher Moule (Head of History) and Matt Gow, Isobel Marks and Josh Lynbeck for accompanying the trip.
