On Sunday 12 June, the College welcomed 31 members of the Chapel Choir from The Blue Coat School in Birmingham to engage in a collaborative choral evensong with our own Chapel Choir. The initiative was set up by our Artistic Director, Philip Dukes, who has enjoyed a long association with The Blue Coat School since he was a pupil there between 1976 and 1978.
The joint choirs were conducted by Marlborough’s Director of Chapel Music, Adam Meehan-Staines, and the Director of Music from The Blue Coat School, Jeremy Nicklin.
It was a welcome return for Jeremy after his splendid adjudication of both House Harmony and House Shout last October. It was also very pleasing to welcome such a large cohort of parents from Blue Coat School.
The plan is to make this an annual occurrence with a visit by our choir to Blue Coat School in 2023 to sing in their soon to be beautifully refurbished Chapel.
