The Sports Report: Week 3

Friday 20th January 2023

A look back at the third week of term from a sporting perspective, with a snapshot of news, views and updates from across the College.

The week began with a wonderful afternoon of lacrosse over at St Mary’s Calne, with skill, sportsmanship and teamwork in abundance. The 1sts and U15As won their respective tournaments and the 2nds finished runners-up. The U14As were also in midweek action, with a thrilling 7-6 win at St Mary’s Calne U14B thanks to a last minute effort from Jemima G who showed some great stick skills under intense pressure.

Despite the low temperatures and frozen pitch conditions in the early part of the week, the majority of Marlborough’s footballers were still able to train. Sessions have taken place on the artificial surfaces at the Wiltshire County FA’s headquarters and at Swindon Town FC’s Foundation Park. Our thanks go to them both for providing use of such excellent facilities.

On Thursday, the XV played out their Schools Cup quarter-final at Chippenham RFC. An entertaining contest saw Blundell’s progress to the last four of the competition thanks to a 37-22 victory. The match is available to watch again here thanks to Next Gen XV.

Congratulations to Sarah H who has been included in the Scotland U18 hockey squad for the four nations tournament at Easter. This precedes the European Championships in Germany this summer.
