Walking for Bursaries

Thursday 26th January 2023

Congratulations to Jules B who completed a 30km walk around Sydney over the Christmas holiday, raising £1,983 for Marlborough College Bursaries.

Jules completed the walk in just under six hours on a beautiful day, requiring several much-needed refreshment and sunscreen stops. The walk began at Bondi Beach, around the South Head of Sydney Harbour passing Dover Heights, Watson’s Bay, Vaucluse, Rose Bay, Double Bay, Elizabeth Bay and Woolloomooloo Bay before finishing at The Opera House.

Outlining his reasons for taking on such a challenge, Jules said: “My aim was to try and help others by raising some money towards bursaries here at Marlborough. A few of my friends have received a bursary so I wanted to try to contribute towards giving others the opportunity of coming here (to Marlborough).

“From my own experience, I have found Marlborough to be a very kind and supportive environment and I wanted more people to be able to experience that.”

Having completed the route, Jules has not ruled out taking on another such challenge in the future.

He said: “It the first time I had done such a long walk in one go but I really enjoyed it. At one point you could look down over the whole city and the view was phenomenal. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the sort of thing I would do again, especially for such a great cause.”
