The Old Marlburian Reading Prize is a longstanding part of the Shell academic calendar. This year it was won by Will F for his wonderful performance of ‘Such, such is Death’, by Charles Hamilton Sorley (C1 1908-15).
All Shell pupils researched the work of one of the many OM writers with their Form beaks before choosing a piece of drama, poetry or a prose extract to recite from memory. Each Form selected a winner to perform in the final, which was held in the Memorial Hall on Tuesday 7th February.
This year’s competition was adjudicated by Nick Gordon, Head of English and Form, who was impressed by the range of OM writers that were chosen and enjoyed the powerful performances of the pupils.
Well done to all the performers especially those who were Highly Commended: Oliver P and Grace F.
