Commemoration and Prize Day took place at the College on Saturday 27th May and it proved to be a most memorable occasion.
The sun shone brightly on a day that began with a T20 match between the Girls’ XI and Shrewsbury on the XI. For the Upper Sixth and their families, the morning started with their Prize Giving ceremony in the Memorial Hall including speeches from the Chairman of Council and the Master. This was followed by the traditional Commemoration Service in Chapel for the Class of 2023. The Lower School and Lower Sixth Prize Giving ceremony concluded the events in the Memorial Hall.
Up on the Polloi and Hamersley, Houses were cheering on their teams in the Shell inter-house Tug-of-War and the Remove Challenge. There were musical performances, refreshments, and displays on the Chapel Art and on the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race.
Picnics were taken on the playing fields in House groups in view of the action on the XI, with the second T20 match of the day seeing the XI take on the Marlborough Blues.
The Art School was open across the day, showcasing exhibitions of our pupils’ creativity. The afternoon activities included mixed hockey, tennis and the final of the annual House Challenge which saw Summerfield and C2 compete for the trophy, with C2 emerging victorious.
All the prize winners can be found in this commemorative programme.
