On Sunday 21st May, we were delighted to welcome 1,309 local school children from 30 different schools to the College to take part in the Knight Frank Schools Triathlon, the UK’s largest fundraising event for children.
In teams of four, they swam, cycled and ran over 2,599km combined, the distance from Swindon to Gibraltar, making good use of the College’s eight-lane, 25-metre competition swimming pool and several of the pitches and playing fields.
An amazing £121,806 has been raised so far from the Marlborough event which is part of a national series organised by global youth charity, Restless Development. Marlborough College has hosted an event each year since 2017.
The event wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing volunteers. 93 Lower Sixth pupils and 55 members of staff and lifeguard staff kindly gave up their Sunday to help the event run smoothly. Hamish M and Hector M were the official College photographers on the day and you can see their excellent photos in the gallery below. Hattie W, a member of the Restless Development young leadership council, helped on the Restless Development stand during the event.
This was a truly community centred day, with additional support from local hospitality businesses. Approximately 2,000 attendees came together on what was a beautiful sunny day for an amazing, uplifting, feel-good event. It is a truly inspiring story of local children supporting young people around the world.
