Pupil Achievements

The College extends its warmest congratulations to all our pupils for the following rich array of individual and team successes. These are inevitably only a snap-shot of the term and we know that many more pupils have made noteworthy contributions which we also warmly applaud. This has been a great term and all our pupils have much to be proud of.

College News

Aoife G and Will W have been appointed to join Daisy D and Will S as Senior Prefects for the Lent and Summer Terms.


Congratulations to our pupils who took part in national competitions. In the Junior Astronomy Challenge, 13 members of the Hundred received a Gold Award as did three members of the Remove, with a further 10 receiving the Silver and three the Bronze Award.

In the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, nine pupils received Gold certificates and Arthur H, Elliot R, William S and Gongpob P achieved the highest scores in their respective year groups. Very special congratulations to Chloe Z on scoring the highest in the school. Beth J, Karissa L and Grace M received a merit in the Mathematical Olympiad for girls.

Saul T-R and Felix S won the Cheltenham College Modern Languages Debating Competition; whilst Josh T won the Independent Schools Modern Languages Association Creative Writing Competition for Russian GCSE and Maria Julia R was highly commended for Russian A level.

The Sassoon Essay prize, the College’s senior essay prize, was won by John G with Wilf G and Martha J highly commended.

Congratulations to Vincent M on receiving a Crest STEM Gold Award, gaining full marks for his project on the manipulation of neurotransmitters.

Congratulations to House Harmony winners Ivy, and in the House Shout, bravo to Preshute, C3 and Morris.
Dima M and Olivia M have received offers of Choral Awards to Oxford. Lottie V has been awarded a place to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been appointed a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.


Basketball: Well done to the Boys’ U18 and U14 teams who are both unbeaten this term. The U18s winning run now stretches back to March 2022.

Dance: Chloe H and Tabitha L have completed their Grade 8 exams in ballet.

Equestrian: Congratulations to Skye P-B who has qualified for the NSEA National Showjumping Championships and Lucas M for the NSEA Eventers Challenge Championships both of which will be held at Hickstead next summer. Scarlett T has qualified for the National Schools Equestrian Association Championship Plate.

Fencing: The fencing squad has had another unbeaten term, including an impressive win on points versus Eton. Lottie J has represented Northern Ireland at the Senior Home Nations Tournament and represented Great Britain at U17/Cadet in Budapest, Grenoble and Copenhagen.

Football: The 1st XI have started their County Cup run in style winning 12-0 at home to Wellington Academy and the U15As have reached the 3rd round of the ISFA National Cup.

Golf: Congratulations to the 1st Team who reached the final of the West of England Independent Schools Championships, narrowly finishing runners up.

Hockey: Well done to the 4th XI, U15A, U15C and U14B on unbeaten seasons, with the 2nd XI, 3rd XI, 5th XI, U16B, U16C and U15B losing only one match each. A good win against Canford sees the U16A in the last 16 of the Tier 2 Plate next term and the U14A will play in the National quarter-finals of the Tier 2 Cup after a recent win over Blundells. Sarah H is a member of the Scotland U18 National team. Ruby B made her debut for Reading Ladies 1st XI in the Women’s National Premier League and has been selected for England U18.
Bella M progressed to the final stages of England U18 trials and India W was reselected for the talent Academy.
Seven pupils represent Wiltshire at U17, 10 at U15 and four at U14, with two also playing for Oxfordshire.

Lacrosse: At the South West Schools Tournament, the 1st X won the First Division, and were unbeaten in the afternoon ‘tier 2’ competition. Congratulations to Alice E who has been invited to join the training squad for the Ireland U20 team.

Rackets: Many congratulations to the Girls’ 1st Pair of Sophia M & Naomi R who were crowned winners of the prestigious Robin Geffin Cup on Saturday 16th December. The girls emerged victorious after a thrilling final against strong opponents 15/9, 3/15, 13/18, 15/4, 15/8, held at The Queen’s Club. Boys’ Captain, Charlie K, reached the last 16 of the Renny Cup.

Rugby: Congratulations to all who contributed to our success in national competitions. The XV reached the final 32 of the National Schools Cup and the Junior Colts 1s narrowly missed out to Dean Close in the regional final of the Plate Competition. James M, Ed E, Freddie P, Ollie B and Leo F are training with the Bath U17/18 squad. Seven boys are involved in Bath Rugby’s U16 programme, with Rory S playing for the club against Bristol in October. Seven boys are also involved at the U15 level, with eight of the Shell working with the U14s.

Squash: Our girls remain unbeaten in weekly fixtures with six wins under their belt. The Colts and Junior Colts have both qualified for the championship draw of the National Schools.

Tennis: Congratulations to our U15 Boys’ team of Jeevan P, Jack H, Santiago F, Oscar S and Abbott B who reached the last 16 of the National Schools’ Championship in November, finishing joint 9th in the country.
