The cold and dark January night skies have provided opportune conditions for pupils to visit the Blackett Observatory.
The Blackett Observatory, located adjacent to the College playing fields, is a key facility for the study of Astronomy by pupils with multiple group visits this week. Ivy House enjoyed a freezing, but clear Tuesday night, and were given a tour of the night sky with views of Jupiter and the Andromeda Galaxy through the Cooke 10 inch telescope. Littlefield will visit later this week.
The Observatory is open to the public through the Friends of the Marlborough Telescope membership scheme. School and Society visits are welcome, please contact Gavin James , Director of the Blackett Observatory, to arrange or visit the dedicated Blackett Observatory website here.
