The next generation of Marlborough lacrosse players had the chance to train with international players on Saturday 6th January as part of the ‘Train with Team England’ initiative.
Having not been able to attend the clinic in the morning at St Catherine’s Bramley, the England U20s held another camp just for Marlborough and Westonbirt, this time at Surrey Sports Park. The Senior England Women’s team and the U23s were also training and the girls had the chance to see them in action.
Head of Lacrosse at Marlborough, Heidi Marvin, reflected on a memorable afternoon: “It was an exciting and inspirational environment for our girls to be around and a great way to start the term.
“We took all our junior teams with a wide range of ability, from those with three years’ experience to those who were new to the game this term in the Shell. It was a great opportunity for our girls to work to their own level, developing their skills as well as having a chance to meet and talk with the U20 England Internationals about their experiences. Our main goal was to inspire our girls and the visit certainly did that.”
There were also some familiar faces in the England camp, with recent OMs Kitty (NC 2018-23) and Molly Marvin (NC 2016-21) both shining examples of the performance pathway from Marlborough to being involved at national level.
