On Track for Tommy

Tuesday 23rd April 2024

A marathon effort from the boys of C2 boarding house has helped raise £5,000 for CALM – the Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Movement – Swindon.

The event was held on Sunday 21st April with the boys forming relay teams in an attempt to clock up as many miles as possible in two hours at the Athletics Track. The final result saw a total of 184 miles reached, twice the return distance from Marlborough to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

CALM was the chosen charity as Tommy, the grandson of former C2 Dame, Teresa Sugden, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in March 2023.

Gareth Playfair, C2 Housemaster, commented: “It was a brilliant effort from everyone. It was particularly special to have Tommy and Teresa, along with their family and friends, with us up at the track to lend their support – and their legs! – and cheer the boys on.

“I am thrilled to report that Tommy is emerging from his ordeal and getting stronger every day.”
