“In the gloaming, the way the candlelight brought the Chapel gilding to life was sublime.” These are the words of an appreciative Edward Twohig, Head of Art, who relished the Advent Carols service this year which included the Choir’s monumental performance of Matthew Martin’s Angelus ad Virginum.
Enjoyed by a well-attended Chapel congregation including parents of the Choristers, everyone was clearly highly impressed with the musicality and hard work of the Choir. Adam Meehan-Staines, Choirmaster, said, “What was really lovely to note was how much the pupils were invested in the service – they were incredibly attentive, sang and listened well, and you could certainly feel their collective appreciation.”
Faith and the Pilgrim’s Journey are alive and well at Marlborough College, even in a world with such profound disruptions. The evening proved a splendid release and wellbeing elixir, setting a tone of calm for the remainder of a busy term.
