This term’s Rock and Pop Concert delivered an exciting evening of impressive performances.
The show opened with an energetic rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love from Oliver P, Ben T S, Jasmine P, Fintan L, Freddie M and Dr Flatres.
Caspar M followed with his original song Lifeline, performed with confidence. The intensity rose again as Ben, Fintan and Oliver launched into a blistering version of Jimi Hendrix’s Voodoo Child, full of drive and character.
More reflective moments came from Bella T singing I Love You I’m Sorry, Olivia S performing Goo Goo Dolls’ Iris, and Reina singing Grenade, accompanied by Mr Cochrane.
Paramore’s All I Wanted, featuring Jasmine, Ben, Fintan, Corey W and Oliver, brought rich harmonies and dynamic contrast. This was followed by a beautifully atmospheric rendition of Radiohead’s Let Down by Paddy C, Jasmine, Ben, Freddie M, Rui E P and Oliver. The vocal harmonies by Paddy and Jasmine were a particular highlight of this song, before energy surged once again with an exhilarating take on Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit from Oliver, Ben, Fintan, Corey and Jasmine.
Ben, Correy, Fintan, Rui and Oliver then delivered a convincing performance of Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams, before closing the night with a stylish and confident version of Dire Straits’ Sultans of Swing.
Overall, the concert was excellent and really enjoyable, showing collaboration and creativity.
With special thanks to our Upper Sixth pupils for their leadership.
