The Inter House Cross Country Relays took place on Sunday September 13th. Pupils were drawn from all year groups with the exception of the Shell and competed in teams of eight for their respective houses, each completing a 1km leg. A total of 160 boys and 112 girls took part in the event, supported by a large crowd of pupils and staff on the Playing Fields.
In the Lowers category Mill Mead won the girls event in a time of 38 minutes 3 seconds. Charlotte R ran the fastest individual lap in 3 minutes 59 seconds. In the boys’ event Turner beat Littlefield in a time of 32 minutes 30 seconds, with Reuben D recording the fastest individual lap in 3 minutes 31 seconds.
In the Senior category Morris were clear winners of the girls’ relay in a time of 40 minutes 26 seconds. Naomi H recorded the fastest individual time of 4 minutes 3 seconds.
In the senior boys’ event, Summerfield defeated Littlefield by the narrowest of margins to end Littlefield’s impressive reign of four consecutive victories in this category. The winning time was 30 minutes 55 seconds. William F was once again the fastest individual athlete alongside Zephrin C-W in a time of 3 minutes 26 seconds.
The course conditions were damp and so the records from previous years remain unchanged.
