Clay Pigeon Shooting
Clay pigeon shooting lessons are organised at Barbury Shooting School near Wroughton, about 20 minutes from the College. All equipment is provided but pupils can keep their own guns at the shooting school. There is an annual house match held at Barbury. Trophies are awarded for the best team and the top boy and girl shots. Occasionally there are matches against other schools. We are proud to be able to support pupils with their representative aspirations outside of school, including a recent OM who was a double Junior Olympic Gold medalist.

Fly Fishing
Marlborough College has a stretch of over half mile of the River Kennet flowing through its grounds – a beautiful chalk stream, renowned for its lovely wild Brown Trout. We are also very fortunate to have two lakes which are stocked twice a term mainly with Rainbow Trout.
Professional flyfishing tuition is provided by our flyfishing coach Rob Green (Level 2 Game Angling qualified, Orvis Pro Guide and Angling Trust Fishing for Wellbeing Approved Partner).
Over the last three years, Rob has been building up the College’s programme for this increasingly popular sport and now runs up to five sessions a week, all year round, including sessions for pupils who are off games and wellbeing sessions for pupils in the Hundred and Upper Sixth leading up to their GCSEs / A levels in the Summer Term.
We now have a Girls’ and Boys’ Captain of Flyfishing and are working on organising some fixtures with other schools. We are also planning an OM flyfishing day.
The Flyfishing Club is open to all pupils and staff. There is a small charge for membership to contribute to the cost of stocking the fishery.
