Basketball
Basketball is a fast-paced, court-based team sport requiring a set of dynamic physical qualities and skills to perform well on both offence and defence. It improves player fitness, discipline and whole body coordination. The sport is rapidly expanding within the College and is open to pupils of all ages as a sports option during the Michaelmas and Lent Terms. There are three College teams – Senior U18 boys, Junior U16 boys and Junior U16 girls. Squad training takes place twice a week, with two additional early morning sessions to help pupils develop their own game with individual coaching.

Facilities
We have an impressive Sports Hall with a main hall, full-size court and FIBA-approved Perspex backboard/hoops (with four additional hoops on walls around the side of the court). There are outdoor basketball courts at three of our boarding houses; Littlefield, Cotton and Summerfield.
Fixtures
We play regular fixtures against other schools, including Eton, Wellington, Prior Park, Bishops Wordsworth’s, Sherborne, St Augustine’s, Wycliffe, Magdalen, Bradfield, Winchester, Cheltenham and Swindon Academy. We also run a variety of popular house basketball competitions (in Shell, Remove/Hundred and Sixth Form) which offer pupils the opportunity to compete with their house teams to claim the coveted title of House Basketball Champions!
Professional Collaborations
Our Head of Basketball, Connor Hetherton, is an ex-Welsh international. He is supported by visiting sports coach, Matt Analts (Level 3 Basketball Coach and ex-Bristol Flyers player).
