Housemaster: C1
Dr Jonathan Swift
Jonathan completed his degree and PhD in Chemistry at Bath University. He enjoyed a successful career as a Senior Research Chemist before moving into teaching in 2009.
He has been a member of the Common Room at Marlborough since August 2011 as a Chemistry beak and was Resident House Tutor in Barton Hill before succeeding Ben Miller as C1 Housemaster in September 2016.
He is a committed schoolmaster and has been heavily involved in co-curricular activities at the College including coaching rugby and hockey. He is currently Master in Charge of Chess. Jonathan is married to Michelle who is a tutor in Elmhurst and they have a young son.

C1 Boarding House
Key Facts
C1 is located in the oldest of the College buildings at the southern end of Court in the heart of the school. Steeped in history, it was originally the home of the Seymour family before becoming the Castle Inn. C1 then became the original building of Marlborough College when the school was founded in 1843.

Chris Tanner
Resident House Tutor
Chris was appointed Resident House Tutor in 2020 after three years as a member of the C1 tutor team. He works in the marketing department as the Website & Social Media Manager and also coaches rugby.

Caroline Pincott
Dame
An important part of the C1 family, Caroline joined C1 in September 2018 as Dame. She enjoys supporting the boys while away from home and also manages the house team.
