George Lane
George was educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenham, and went to Exeter University where he was awarded a First class (Honours) degree in Exercise & Sports Sciences (BSc). After a period in Canada, he taught for three years at King Edward’s School, Witley, in Surrey where he was an Assistant Housemaster and Master in Charge of Cricket.
He arrived at Marlborough in 2006 as a PE and Mathematics teacher and was soon appointed Resident House Tutor of Cotton. He was Head of Shell before becoming C3 Housemaster in 2017.
George is heavily involved in the co-curricular programme and coaches all three major boys’ games. He is passionate about all sport, particularly cricket and golf. Married to Joss who is an SEN teacher at Pinewood School, their two sons are both at the College.
C3 Boarding House
Key Facts
C3 is a boys’ house in a modern building next to the water meadows, adjacent to the two trout lakes. Behind the building is a large grass playing field bounded by the River Kennet. Despite its rural location, C3 is just a two-minute walk from all the facilities of Court. C3 shares a communal area with Mill Mead where boys and girls can socialise.

Ollie Willars
Assistant HM
Ollie joined the C3 team as Assistant Housemaster in September 2025. He has been at the College since 2024 and is Master in Charge of Hockey. Prior to joining Marlborough he earned 138 caps for England and Great Britain.
Emily Cross
Resident Pastoral Tutor
Miss Cross is one of Mill Mead’s Resident Tutors. She is on duty in house most mornings and evenings and at the weekends, she also supports the boys in C3. She loves crafting, games and baking.
Grace Tippett
Dame
Grace joined C3 in 2026 bringing a wealth of experience in pastoral care and leadership. She is passionate about fostering a welcoming and supportive environment where pupils feel valued, secure and encouraged to flourish.
