Alys joined the College in 2006 as a Geography teacher. She holds a BSc from Loughborough University, an MSc from the University of Surrey, and a PGCE from the University of Cambridge. More recently, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of the West of England and is a Registered Career Development Professional (RCDP).
Before joining Marlborough, Alys worked at Bromsgrove School, where she was Head of Extra-curricular Activities and Teacher of Geography. During her time at Marlborough, she has held a variety of roles, including Housemistress of New Court and Mill Mead, Head of Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth, Head of Remove Scholars, and she led the Marlborough College Malaysia Exchange in its early days. In 2010 she established and led the International University applications programme, later going on to lead the Futures Department.
Prior to teaching, Alys worked in Environmental Conservation across Surrey and Hampshire, specialising in farm conservation, floodplain management, and grazing animal projects.
A keen sportswoman, Alys competed in both cricket and hockey during her university years. Away from school, she enjoys spending time in the North Devon countryside and takes every opportunity to watch cricket, whether on the Marlborough pitches or further afield.
