Hugo Tilney

Hugo Tilney was appointed Housemaster of Littlefield in September 2022.

He read English Literature at Bristol University and then completed a Postgraduate Diploma in
Newspaper Journalism at Cardiff University. After working as a journalist, he returned to Bristol
and completed a PGCE and went on to teach at Wycliffe College, and then at Clifton College
where he was an Assistant Housemaster.

He joined Marlborough College in 2014 and teaches English and Form, having previously run the
College’s Academic Scholarship and Leadership programmes. He was Resident House Tutor in C2 for five years before joining Littlefield as a tutor in 2020.

Hugo is heavily involved in Marlborough’s co-curricular programme and currently coaches the Yearlings A Rugby and Colts 1st XI Cricket teams. He also helps to run the College’s Fly Fishing Club and the River Restoration Outreach programme.

Hugo enjoys cricket, golf, squash, fishing and exploring the outdoors. He is married to Katie, a GP
partner, and they have three young children – Charlie, Max and Jonty – plus their dog, Conker.
