Isabel Marks

Isabel read BA English Language and Literature (2008–11) and MA Shakespeare in History at University College London (2011–12) where she was also a keen gymnast and rower. She started her English teaching career in London at Notting Hill & Ealing High School. Isabel completed a PGCE at Oxford University before taking up a role at Rugby School where she became an Assistant Housemistress, ran debating and coached hockey, netball and sailing.

In 2018, Isabel joined the English Department at Marlborough and became Head of Form in 2020. Her research interests are the early modern period and genocide literature. She runs the creative arts magazine Piccalilli.

After many years of study, Isabel completed yoga teacher training in India in 2017 and often shares her practice with pupils. She enjoys collecting books, cooking and travelling. Charity work is a great passion and she has volunteered at schools in India, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
