Marcus attended school in Ludlow, Shropshire. He has a background in elite level football, leaving school to complete a two-year scholarship with Shrewsbury Town FC. A stint in the Welsh Premier League with AFC Newtown followed, before returning to education at Cardiff Metropolitan University to complete a BSc in Sport Development.
After a brief period in a graduate business development role in Bristol, Marcus moved into teaching. A highly qualified football and rugby union coach, Marcus completed his PGCE at the University of Wolverhampton before beginning his teaching career in the Physical Education Department at the grammar school in Leeds in 2013. Marcus spent two years in Leeds before joining Marlborough in 2015 as a PE teacher, and then taking up the role of Head of Department a year later.
Marcus has a Master’s degree in Education and is interested in professional development, applying leadership and coaching to the educational setting. He is a degree-level qualified professional coach via the Institute of Leadership & Management and applies this expertise through his leadership of the staff Professional Development Programme, and through mentoring pupils on the Support+ Programme.
