The Revd Canon Roger Powell is Rector of the Ridgeway Benefice, three parishes on the Marlborough Downs. During his ministry he has been involved in many varied and different aspects of community engagement. He sat on the City of Leicester Adoption Panel for many years as well as a police community engagement board. He has worked with a number of charities, including a women’s refuge, homeless shelters and youth engagement forums. He is a member of the Church of England Clergy Discipline Panel. More recently he was Rural Dean of Marlborough as well as an Assistant Archdeacon in the Salisbury Diocese. He is an honorary Canon of Salisbury Cathedral.
Roger has a degree in Theology as well as a post graduate qualification in Psychodynamic Therapy and was a counsellor at the Leicester Counselling Service for many years. Well-being is at the forefront of his ministry and he has a passion to help people use their life experiences to the good.
He enjoys travelling, theatre, singing and dancing as well as a good novel.
Roger is a former parent, having had three children attend Marlborough.
