The Reverend Stephen Gray

Rev’d Stephen Gray is the Conduct (Senior Chaplain) at Eton College where he has been for the past five years. Before this he was engaged in Parish Ministry in Cheltenham and Rector of St Giles, Graffham, in West Sussex. After service in the Royal Navy as a Padre he undertook posts as Chaplain at Sherborne School and then Bradfield College.

Stephen studied Theology at London and Cambridge University and is a qualified teacher of Theology with experience in the state sector and overseas in Africa. He has been closely involved with projects in Rwanda that assist with healing and reconciliation after the Rwandan genocide of 1994 and engages young people with these programmes of restoration and forgiveness.

He has three daughters, two reading English at university. His interests include most sports, as a Cambridge hockey Blue and player–member of the MCC at cricket.

Stephen joined the Council in June 2021.
