Deputy Head (Boarding): Lady CayleySenior Management Team
Kate Cayley read History at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and came to teach at Marlborough College in 1988, after a period of voluntary work in the North East of England, for a Christian organisation, and a stint in educational administration at the University of Cambridge. She has taught History at all levels of the school, and for the last seven years has taught Form, the integrated humanities course, to Shell pupils.
She was Housemistress of Morris House for eleven years, and was the Resident Tutor in Cotton House, as well as Head of Shell, before taking on the House. She has been Deputy Head (Boarding) since 2005, providing oversight of the College’s pastoral care systems and policies, and leading the team of sixteen Housemasters and Housemistresses. As well as working closely with the Admissions Department, she is also a prep school governor, and liaises closely with the Boarding Schools Association. Finally, she is the College’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.
She has two teenage sons, both of whom have been educated at the College, and are now at university. Particular interests include music, (both sons are percussionists!), theatre and cinema, and Golden Age detective fiction.
