IT - Gary ShearnHead of Department
After a B.Sc in “Cybernetics and Control Engineering” from Reading, Gary spent 14 years in the computer industry in roles from assembly language programming through to system design and consultancy, initially for the global travel industry and subsequently in financial markets. A young family led him into teaching after another spell at university, and following a thorough grounding in the maintained sector and at ‘Teddies’ he rolled up at Marlborough, on the retirement of the legendary Beverly Heath, 20 years ago!
Gary spent 15 years responsible for all aspects of the IT infrastructure at Marlborough as well as the teaching of IT skills to staff and pupils, and latterly has been developing the Computer Science courses at both GCSE and A-level.
Gary still coaches some rugby and cricket but these days is committed to the further development of clay-pigeon shooting in the College. He is married to Sally (HM of New Court) and together they have two adult children, both OMs.
